The City of Raleigh has always had a history of strong regional and urban planning. Raleigh was conceived and designed as the Capitol, and this foundation of great planning continues benefit the neighborhoods and communities we live in and love today. One of these social hub areas is called “Five Points”.
Though the boundaries are not well defined, there are several unique neighborhoods that make up the Five Points area. These include Hayes Barton, Bloomsbury, Vanguard Park & Roanoke Park. The National Park Service (believe it or not!) has a great history of this area as there are several neighborhoods within Raleigh that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The focal point of Five Points is the local business district located at the intersection of Glenwood Ave and Whitaker Mill Road - Specifically , our go-to pizza joint Lilly’s and our favorite hair repair place Mark Christopher Salon.
If you’re interested in living in this area, you have a lot of options. From the bungalows along Whitaker Mill, the mid-century ranch homes in Hayes Barton East, or the gated estates up and down Cowper Drive, there are choices to fit every family type and budget. While there are no Home Owners Associations in this area, the Five Points CAC (Citizen Advisory Council) is a great resource for detailed information.
We’d be happy to give you a “locals tour” of the area and offer our personal perspectives and opinions! We are always looking for great new people moving into the area!
